TROY – The story of Vanessa Milligan, who was murdered in 2014 a week before giving birth, was told by the true crime show ‘Fatal Attraction’ on TV One. The episode draws on articles from the Times Union as well as interviews with family members, friends, prosecutors and reporters.

Milligan’s death at the hands of 18-year-old Gabriel Vega is chronicled in the episode titled “Blazing Betrayal”, which can be seen on TVOne or in the player below:

Vega was convicted of the April 3, 2014 murder by a jury in Rensselaer County Court. He strangled 19-year-old Milligan, who was pregnant with a daughter, then set fire to her apartment at 271 Fifth Ave. in Lansingburgh.

Judge Anthony Ceresia sentenced Vega in 2016 to two consecutive 25-year prison terms for first-degree manslaughter and second-degree arson, with five years of post-release supervision and a concurrent 2 1/2 prison sentence. 3 to 7 years for first-degree abortion. An appeals court later rejected Vega’s efforts to overturn the verdict.

He is currently housed at Auburn Correctional Center and will not be eligible for a parole hearing until 2048.

TV One airs on channel 184 on Spectrum Cable. The episode originally aired on October 18 and will be repeated on the station. The program can be viewed on
