These 1980s Rockford TV commercials will take you back in time

There were memorable commercials on Rockford TV when I was growing up. Mind you, I was born in 1983, but I remember most of these ads, or some variation of them. Off the top of my head, I distinctly remember the B. Sanfield commercials and remember a few car dealerships like, “Don’t call him Mr. Cheap-Cheap…and here’s the reason why.” and “Don’t buy an ugly truck.” Maybe that last one is something I have in mind or maybe it was a national ad. Here are even more memorable announcements from Rockford, Illinois businesses.

B. Sanfield: Let’s start with B Sanfield.

Merchandise of K: K’s was one of the few stores I didn’t hate going to as a kid because they literally sold everything. There were many things waiting to be touched by my undoubtedly filthy fingers.

Sinner: I don’t think I’ve ever ventured into Fisher but I vaguely remember their advertisements.

Big Sur Waterbeds: I remember those commercials because I’m pretty sure we had a few waterbeds from there when I was growing up.

Al Grace device: How could you not remember the decades of great Al Grace television and radio commercials. This was before the “…and other great ones, schtuff.” slogan.

Same: I couldn’t tell you anything about Ditto other than the profusely big hair.

FOX-39/On the waterfront: Do you remember the woman who was featured in all of the FOX-39 promotional commercials? Who is she? My childhood wants to know.

Rockford Motor Speedway: This ad is missing one of Rockford’s most iconic TV/radio ad slogans…do you know what that is?

WREX TV: Since we’ve highlighted FOX-39, let’s go back to an ’80s opening for a news cast.

New Milford Refrigeration: It may be because I grew up in New Milford, but I’ll never forget the phone number for this company.

The hairstyles, the jingles and that perfect announcer voice, these commercials are a blast from Rockford’s past. Right here are even more Rockford TV commercials circa 1980-something.
