Sun TV Network’s revenue for the quarter ended December 31, 2021 increased by 27.66% to Rs 975.16 crore from Rs 763.27 crore for the corresponding quarter ended December 31, 2020.
The company’s overall revenue increased by 6.25% to Rs 1,033.10 crore from Rs 972.34 crore. Total expenditure increased to Rs 485.62 crore from Rs 462.91 crore.
Advertising revenue increased by 22.45% to Rs 378 crore from Rs 309 crore in the same quarter last year.
Sun TV Network has channels in five languages (Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Bangla and Marathi) in addition to owning the Sun NXT OTT platform. It also broadcasts FM radio stations across India. The company owns Indian Premier League (IPL) team Sun Risers Hyderabad.
EBITDA increased by 20.18% to Rs 721.87 crore for the current quarter from Rs 600.68 crore. Net profit increased by 14.44% to Rs 437.89 crore from Rs 382.65 crore.
During the current quarter, Sun Pictures, a division of the company, released the blockbuster film “Annaatthe” directed by Siva and starring Super Star Rajinikanth, Khushbu, Meena, Nayanthara, Keerthy Suresh and others with a music composed by D.Imman.
The results for the quarter and nine months ended 31 December 2021 include Sun Risers Hyderabad Company’s IPL franchise revenue for the 2021 season (partial) of Rs 57.94 crore and Rs 233.49 crore respectively.
The board has declared an interim dividend of Rs. 2.50 per share at a par value of Rs 5 per share. Earnings per share for the current quarter increased by 3.52% to Rs 11.61 from Rs 11.21 for the corresponding quarter ended December 31, 2020.
