Mumbai: Sun TV Network has filed its Reference Interconnection Offer (RIO) issued under the Telecommunications Services (Broadcast and Cable) Interconnection (Addressable Systems) Regulations 2017 for all distribution platforms. The new RIO will be effective from December 6th.

The TV channel tariffs mentioned in the RIO are in accordance with the New Tariff Ordinance (NTO) 2.0 of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of India (Trai).

The network operates 23 standard-definition pay channels, eight high-definition pay channels and two free-to-air channels. It also offers 21 bouquets. Tamil General Entertainment Channel (GEC) Sun TV, Telugu GEC Gemini TV and Kannada GEC Udaya TV fares above Rs 12.

In line with the new Tariff Regime 2.0 Ordinance, Trai has required that a channel’s MRP must not exceed Rs 12 for it to be included in any package.

Implementation of the new Tariff Order 2.0 is on hold as broadcasters under the umbrella of the Indian Broadcasting Foundation (IBF) challenged the Trai Order in the Supreme Court. The final hearing on the matter is scheduled for November 30.
