ION Television Ranks #1 Among U.S. Cable Networks in Q3 and finishes the 2018/19 TV season ranked No. 4

ION confirms success of combining cable and broadcast assets to increase reach and value for advertisers

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla., Sept. 18, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — ION Media today announced the following TV ratings updates, along with its annual progress report and insights for employees and stakeholders .

Marking a new record for the company in broadcast and TV viewership rankings, ION Television is on track to end the third quarter of 2019 as the #1 ranked U.S. cable network for the total day, with 422 000 impressions for adults 25-54 since the start of the quarter. in prime time, 276,000 in off-peak hours and 323,000 in total during the day. ION is also No. 1 among adults 18-49, with 355,000 prime viewing hours, 230,000 non-prime and 270,000 total days for the third quarter.

  • Income – The third quarter of 2019 marks the company’s 40th consecutive quarter of year-over-year revenue growth, reflecting ION’s growing value and ratings reliability.
  • Ratings – After its strong end to summer, ION Television is on track to finish the 2018/19 broadcast season ranked #4 in both prime and non-prime, just behind ESPN in total impressions daily for adults 25-54 on US cable networks.
  • To reach – With its MVPD and Broadcast Affiliate expansions over the past 36 months, ION delivers a peak reach of over 100 million US households, capitalizing on an increase in live TV popularity of over 40 % over the last five years.

The company reaffirmed the strategic plan elements of the five key areas it had previously defined:

  • Content extension — Build on the proven track record of curating ION’s content library, focusing on “A” grade syndicated and original shows.
  • Station acquisitions — Opportunistically acquire independent television channels in large markets.
  • Network expansion — Build additional networks, capitalizing on its core skills acquired in building ION Television.
  • Innovative platform — Expand ION’s network suite to new platforms, including new MVPD content packages, as well as new consumer-friendly bundles and offers.
