Foxtel uses Upfronts to reveal impressive slate of programs for 2023

The Foxtel Group has announced a significant lineup of premium entertainment and sports over the next 12 months, including an impressive slate of Australian original content alongside the world’s best scripted and unscripted TV shows and movies.

The Foxtel Group offers subscribers over 75,000 hours of content from leading studios and distribution partners, across “owned and operated” and partner channels, as well as live and on-demand sports. With many highly anticipated new and original shows set to premiere in 2023, the Foxtel Group offers its subscribers Australia’s most comprehensive entertainment and sports slate on its platforms.

More Australian original stories will soon find their way to Foxtel Group platforms, with Bruna Papandrea’s new Made Up Stories commission STRIFE, and featuring Australian icon Asher Keddie, set to go into production in 2023. Located In the ever-changing world of publishing during the emerging digital age, the story is inspired by Mia Freedman’s memoir, “Work, Strife, Balance.”

Other local scripted originals coming soon to Foxtel include the second season of award-winning comedy-drama series UPRIGHT starring Tim Minchin and Dragon House Milly Alcock, the COLIN FROM ACCOUNTS comedy series, created and written by and starring Harriet Dyer and Patrick Brammall; and the second season of the critically acclaimed drama LOVE ME.

Upcoming new international dramas include post-apocalyptic video game series THE LAST OF US, starring Pedro Pascal, Bella Ramsay and Australian Anna Torv; and the highly anticipated series THE IDOL, created by Sam Levinson and Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye and starring Lily-Rose Depp. Other exclusive shows include period drama MARIE ANTOINETTE created and written by Deborah Davis (The favourite); the British comedy-drama CHIVALRY written by and starring Steve Coogan and Sarah Solemani; and LOVE AND DEATH, a new crime drama starring Elizabeth Olsen and written by David E. Kelley.

Returning international favorites are highly anticipated in upcoming seasons of THE WHITE LOTUS, the award-winning anthology series created by Mike White; the black comedy SUCCESSION with Australian Sarah Snook; second season of the hugely popular AND JUST LIKE THIS starring Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis; plus new seasons of YOUNG ROCK, DEVILS, OUTLANDER and the addictive BELOW DECK, REAL HOUSEWIVES and BAKE OFF franchises from around the world.

LifeStyle’s most beloved original franchise, SELLING HOUSES AUSTRALIA, will return for Season 15 with hosts Andrew Winter, Wendy Moore and Dennis Scott. THE GREAT AUSTRALIAN BAKE OFF will also return in 2023 with new judges Rachel Khoo and Darren Purchese and hosts Natalie Tran and Cal Wilson. GRAND DESIGNS AUSTRALIA will launch its final season with Foxtel Group and award-winning host Peter Maddison on January 25, 2023.

The much-loved GOGGLEBOX AUSTRALIA will return next year, along with a reboot of Australia’s beloved music trivia show ROCKWIZ.

New to the Foxtel group in 2023 is FBOY ISLAND, an original production based on the hugely popular US format. Soon in production, the series will follow three modern women who, in their bid to find love, must figure out which suitor is there for love and who is just a gambler.

Foxtel Group will see a wide range of factual content debut over the next 12 months, including the ICONS UNEARTHED documentary series exploring the iconic TV and film franchises that have shaped the industry, which will debut with Star Wars in December; and thought-provoking human interest pieces like MASTER OF LIGHT, the story of an imprisoned artist and the power of redemption and identity. The hit survival contest series ALONE returns along with the hugely popular AUSSIE GOLD HUNTERS and 60 DAYS IN series. Long-running US titles PAWN STARS, STORAGE WARS and AMERICAN PICKERS will also return.

In 2023, Foxtel Group becomes WWE’s exclusive destination in Australia, adding all of WWE’s extensive archives as well as premieres and live events to our platforms. Foxtel subscribers will benefit from a dedicated 24/7 WWE channel and VOD hub, and in January 2023, BINGE will launch as Home of WWE streaming in Australia. All WWE premium live events, previously only available via pay-per-view, will be available to Foxtel and BINGE subscribers at no additional cost.

In sport, 2023 will be a huge year for cricket on the Foxtel Group, with two World Cups – the T20 Women’s World Cup in the summer and the ODI Men’s World Cup in October – with each Australian men’s and women’s international at home, every BBL and WBBL match, plus major domestic and international matches live and commercial-free during play with select matches available in 4K Ultra HD on Foxtel.

As ESPN’s key broadcast partner in Australia, Foxtel Group is proud to bring all NBL games and select NBA games to fans throughout the summer, as well as select WNBL events. March will also see the return of winter codes with every match in every round of the AFL and NRL being shown live and commercial-free during play.
