Fox News Makes History as Most-Watched TV Network All Summer

Fox News Channel was the most-watched television network in America from May to September, the first time a cable news network ended the summer months in first place among total viewers, according to evaluation data compiled by Nielsen. “From Memorial Day to Labor Day…Fox News has been the most-watched network in the country,” Fox Corporation said.

Thursday, CEO Lachlan Murdoch. “I think it’s very strong.”

With an average total prime-time audience of 3.5 million viewers, Fox News beat out broadcast networks like CBS

(3.280 million viewers), NBC (2.979 million viewers), ABC (2.635 million viewers) and Fox Broadcasting (1.385 million viewers), as well as the traditionally highly rated sports and entertainment cable networks.

Murdoch, appearing at the Bank of America Virtual 2020 Media, Communications & Entertainment Conference, said Fox News’ ratings performance has led advertisers to take a second look at the network. “As our grades go up, our demographics, we have larger cohorts of different demographics,” Murdoch said. “The news is always older, which is not something that particularly worries me, it makes sense. But now we have new viewers to advertise for, we have new categories of advertisers who had never advertised in the news before and who now advertise on Fox News.
