black friday 2022 will begin earlier than in previous years, with early bird discounts already starting to go live. While many of these deep price cuts were once for everyone’s enjoyment, over the years retailers have begun to lock some of the most enticing door-breakers behind membership programs. This year is going to continue the trend more aggressively than before, so weighing your options between Amazon Prime, Walmart+ and other subscriptions will be essential to make the most of the holiday shopping season.
Best Black Friday Membership Programs for 2022
Year after year, Amazon’s Prime service continues to be the forerunner of what we can expect from all the Black Friday savings. This is easily the most crucial part of getting the best discounts of the season, almost all of which are exclusively available to members of the shopping service. It is therefore a good idea to ensure that your account is settled before the end of November.
Apart from access to Black Friday, it is of course next door all other benefits that an Amazon Prime subscription offers. You’ll still get two-day shipping to make sure even your last-minute freebies arrive on time, plus Amazon’s vast movie, TV, and music streaming platform. So it’s safe to say that having a Prime membership is going to be your Best for its money come Black Friday 2022. And with Amazon raising the price earlier in the year, score a 30 day free trial for new members could just be movement instead.
Giving Amazon a real run for its money, Walmart transformed its Walmart+ membership into one of the most convincing ways to lock in the discounts this holiday season. In what’s akin to Amazon Prime, Walmart+ is the retailer’s own version of a paid membership. Besides early access to discounts that will be removed in November and beyond, there are also other perks, like free shipping on all orders, unlimited grocery delivery, access to Paramount+ and all that. that you can read here.
As we’ve seen in the Deals for Days promotion so far, not all of the best discounts are guaranteed to stay in stock until they’re open to the general public. So those who want to take advantage of these enticing digital switchers will find Walmart+ very convenient. The $98 program also comes as a 30 day free trial, so those not ready to commit to a full year can lock in their subscription now and enjoy all the benefits of Black Friday and Cyber Monday at no additional cost. You can read more about this program in our previous coverage.
My best buy and TotalTech
Best Buy’s membership programs change a bit from Amazon and Walmart, offering free and paid options. The free of charge My Best Buy Account is a must to go into the Black Friday season and it’s all you’ll need to lock in all of the retailer’s exclusive deals. Being free, it’s a no-brainer to complete your shopping repertoire this year.
There is also the Total Tech Program, which raises the bet on what Best Buy can offer its customers. While you won’t find too many exclusive discounts, there’s the added benefit of Best Buy’s Black Friday Price Guarantee. So if you end up buying something that sells for less at another time during the holiday season, you’ll be refunded the difference. This $200 per year of membership also gives you extra peace of mind with Geek Squad service as well as 24-month product protection.
Target circle and red card
Finally, there’s Target. The retailer has fallen to the back of the pack in recent years as virtually every other major retailer has sought to enter the holiday season with much more aggressive discounts. Target still has its perks, though, with two rewards programs to give loyal customers a reason to shop for holiday gifts in the bullseye-clad storefront.
Both Target circle program and Red card memberships are free to sign up, though you will want different perks. Target Circle is offering 1% earnings on top of the usual 5% discount if you also have a RedCard subscription. Target Circle members also get early access to select offers. RedCard benefits are more limited this way.
If you are ok with a more traditional debit card or credit card situation, then Red card worth a visit before Black Friday. But giving out additional information or connecting bank accounts can be a deal breaker for some.
